Broxtowe Borough Council is introducing a new club for primary and secondary school pupils who have a physical, learning, visual, hearing or mental health disability and who may be isolated from sports and other physical activities. A mixture of different fun and enjoyable activity sessions are promised at the new club which starts on TUESDAY 6TH NOVEMBER.
The club will be run by professionally trained Sport Development Officers who will help to ensure that all young people of all abilities are catered for and that everyone can get involved. The Council believes that everybody should have the opportunity to get involved in sport and endeavours to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate and develop their skills.
Sport has an immense therapeutic value and plays a great part in physical, psychological and social rehabilitation for both the disabled and the able bodied. The scheme aims to ensure that all young people have a chance to try different sports and activities particularly those people who find access to such facilities more difficult.
The new club is from 4.30pm to 5.30pm and is at the New Pearson Centre, Nuart Road, off Wollaton Road, Beeston. Everyone is welcome to come along and try - the first session attended will be free of charge. The cost of subsequent sessions will be £2.00.
