Your child's imagination - where will it take them this week?
Getting children to use their imagination in an interactive and fun environment is one of the aims of drama classes being organised by a new Beeston business - Sprouts.
Starting on the 4th April an hour of fun drama-based games and activities will be underway at the Pearson Centre, 2 Nuart Road, Beeston. Each Friday from 4.00pm to 5.00pm or 5.00pm to 6.00pm children aged 4 to 8 years will be able to join in the classes aimed to help develop social skills and help your child grow into a positive and outgoing individual. The classes are a mix of drama, movement/dance and vocal/singing activities.
This term we are having a mini adventure and will be asking, ‘what if... I was as tiny as an ant?!' Where will your imagination take you this week?
What if... ?
The power of imagination can create infinite possibilities. Through drama we allow children to explore and develop their creativity in a fun and engaging environment. At Sprouts we believe that with enthusiastic teaching and stimulating games you will see your child improve in self-confidence, focus, and gain a greater respect and awareness of others. In a safe and encouraging atmosphere, all this will give them the potential to sprout into a positive and thoughtful individual.
What if... I was as tiny as an ant?
Spend this summer discovering how it might feel if you were only a few millimetres tall! Explore a world of colossal cups, vast vases and towering teapots. Climb a mountain of sugar-lumps, navigate a river of lemonade and hope you make it home in time for tea!
My name is Helen Barton and I will be leading the classes. I am a trained actress with many years of experience working with children and young people in the theatre industry, through both teaching and acting work. Having worked for a leading young children's drama school for the last three years in London, I have now moved back to my home town of Nottingham to continue in the work for myself, with an emphasis on my own ideals. I believe in an emphasis on fun and encouragement in learning. I believe in the importance of the role drama activities can play in a child's personal development; from confidence boosting, assisting in focus and co-ordination and in developing a respect for others through a good sense of team work.
