WILKINSON STORE IN MARKET DRAYTON RE-LAUNCHES WITH SPECIAL GUESTS

Author: Victoria Published: 25th June 2012 11:54

The Wilkinson store on Frogmore Road, Market Drayton, is all set to unveil its brand new look on Wednesday 27th June, with a little help from the newly elected Mayor of Market Drayton, Councillor Steve Glover, and representatives from the store's charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The store, which will be closed on Tuesday 26th June, will reveal its eagerly anticipated makeover at 9am, featuring an improved layout, new product ranges and a brighter, more modern shopping experience.

The Mayor of Market Drayton, Councillor Steve Glover, and a representative from Macmillan Cancer Support, will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony to declare the store officially re-open. They will also be joined by Wilkinsons' retail operations senior controller, Andy Rosier, and store manager, Jo Bisson.

Early bird shoppers will have the chance to enjoy a sweet treat, as the first 50 customers through the tills will receive free strawberries and cream cupcakes, to celebrate the launch of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. A local magician will also be on hand to entertain customers in store from 11am until 1pm, with tricks and colourful balloon models.

Team members will host a raffle throughout the day, to raise money for the store's new charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support. One lucky customer will win a hamper jam packed with outdoor living products, just in time for the summer, including picnicware, outdoor planters and garden accessories.

During the morning, children from Longlands Primary School will also visit the retailer to deliver a host of Great Britain themed posters to display inside the revamped Wilkinson store. As a thank you for the colourful creations, the children will be presented with Wilkinsons' vouchers to spend on arts & crafts or gardening products for the school.

Store manager, Jo, said: "We're really looking forward to showing off our store's makeover to our special guests, as well as our loyal customers. Not only will the store have a more modern layout, creating an all-round better shopping experience, it will also stock an impressive range of great value seasonal and everyday products."

The celebrations will continue on Saturday 30th June, when the first 50 customers with children will be treated to free locally sourced gingerbread men, celebrating Market Drayton's historic association with gingerbread. A face painter will also transform children into colourful characters throughout the day.

A family owned firm after 80 years of trading, JK Wilkinson opened the first store, situated on Charnwood Street, Leicester, in 1930. The company's portfolio has expanded significantly over the eight decades that have followed, and there are currently 369 stores across the UK, including 10 in Scotland.

Serving over 178 million customers each year, and selling over 25,000 product lines, including health & beauty, gardening equipment, cleaning products and homewares both in store and online at WilkinsonPlus, Wilkinsons is dedicated to providing its customers with high quality products, choice and first class, friendly service.

Wilkinsons is committed to Britain's high streets and prides itself on being a community focused retailer, actively supporting of local charities, community groups and care organisations, as well as its national charity of the year, Age UK.
