Jam Busting June Finishes on Record High

More than 3,400 commuters took part in the scheme which encourages more environmentally friendly ways of travelling to work besides just driving in a car on your own, in return for a range of prizes donated by local businesses.
Jam Busting June is run by the four councils in the West of England area - South Gloucestershire, Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and North Somerset - and is the biggest initiative of its kind in the region.
The extra participation has been attributed to increased support from major employers in the area for Jam Busting June, more awareness amongst commuters about sustainable travel and the recent good weather.
Hewlett-Packard had over 150 participants taking part in the initiative. Chris Miller, a project manager there, said: "Jam Busting June is a great competition that provides an incentive to re-assess our travel patterns. Hewlett-Packard is committed to promoting all transport options and Jam Busting June provides a great way to raise awareness of sustainable travel."
Other employers weren't far behind Hewlett Parkard's participation - 113 from solicitors Burgess Salmon and 82 from North Bristol NHS Trust also took part.
Participants have until July 17 to complete their online diaries recording how they travelled to and from work. The prize draw for those who have taken part will happen later in the month and the winners announced on the Jam Busting June website.
