Get on your bike and pedal for the NSPCC

News story image for: Get on your bike and pedal for the NSPCC

The NSPCC’s Big Bike Ride will be taking place over the weekend of 29 June – 1 July 2007. The charity is looking for volunteers to organise and take part in bike rides in their local communities. This year the aim is to raise £300,000 to help make a difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Anyone can take part regardless of age, fitness, ability or the speed of bike. Rides can take place in local parks with the family or over a longer distance for those wanting a more gruelling challenge. The ride can also be completed on a stationary bike at the gym.

NSPCC Big Bike Ride co-ordinator Claire Wormley said: “This is a great way to get fitter, shift the Christmas pounds or simply enjoy the great outdoors. Every penny raised makes it possible for us to continue our vital work with some of the most vulnerable children and young people across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.”

To find out more about becoming involved in the Big Bike Ride 2007 log on to www.nspcc.org.uk/bigbikeride, email bigbikeride@nspcc.org.uk or call the South West Appeals Office on 01823 346 346.

The NSPCC’s purpose is to end cruelty to children. Its vision is of a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. It seeks to achieve cultural, social and political change – influencing legislation, policy, practice, attitudes and behaviours and delivering services for the benefit of children and young people. Visit www.nspcc.org.uk for more information.
