Winners of ‘Where’s my other shoe?’ competition announced

Thanks to the generosity of local shops Clara Lawrie, organiser of the competition, was able to fill two large envelopes with £230 worth of vouchers so that the lucky winners would have more spending power this Christmas.
At the close of the competition - which challenged people to find a shoe which had been placed in windows of 10 of the 23 participating shops, the winners were chosen at random from entry forms with the most correct answers. However, not just two, but three people walked away as winners.
Mr Andrew Cox was delighted to receive his envelope from Marcus Kravis, Chairman of Minehead Chamber of Trade. He said: "It was good fun (looking for the shoes). We missed one on our first search, but at least we knew what we had to find and eventually spotted it."

The second envelope was awarded jointly to young sisters, Beth & Kate Nickels (aged 13 & 9 respectively).
The competition proved popular with shoppers - especially the children, and businesses alike. One shop owner said: "We had a lot a children eagerly searching the window, and when they found the shoe their faces were a picture of delight".
The competition was the first to be organised by Mrs Lawrie on behalf of the Chamber of Trade. Clara, who is also the editor of the local AboutMyArea website, has recently volunteered to be the Chamber's committee member responsible for events and publicity, and hopes to create more opportunities in the new year to encourage people to shop locally and support local businesses.
