The town council has responsibility for:
- Amenity Areas: Irnham Road Recreation Ground, King George V Playing Field, Cross Farm Park, Periton Playing Field and Alcombe Marsh Common.
- Allotments: Marshfield Road and Harepark Terrace in Alcombe; Poundfield Road, Periton Way, Periton Lane; Orchard Road.
- Cemetery & Memorial: Minehead Cemetery is on the Porlock Road at Woodcombe. They also maintain the closed churchyard at St. Michael's Church on North Hill and the War Memorials in Minehead and Alcombe.
- Christmas Lights
- Organising floral displays in the town: including traders' purchase of hanging baskets and other displays (except for the large beds and Parade planters which are provided by the District Council).
- Entertainment
- Grants: small grants of up to £300 each can be made to community and voluntary organisations for specific projects.
- Noticeboards: At the Town Hall; gates of Blenheim Gardens; Irnham Recreation Ground and at Alcombe.
There are 4 Wards in Minehead with a total of 16 councillor (However, following the resignation of Dudley Seale from the Tory party and the town council, at the moment we have 15 council representatives.
