Fire destroys car after collision on A39 at Bratton

One fire engine from Minehead station and one from Williton Station attended reports of a two vehicle accident on the A39 at Bratton early this afternoon (Tuesday 5th).
One person had been trapped inside one of the vehicles but was released by members of the public before the fire service arrived. On arrival crews confirmed that one vehicle involved in the RTC was well alight.
There were a total of six casualties - five were treated at the scene and one was conveyed to hospital.
Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue service report that the car was 90% destroyed by fire.

I bumped into a relative of the family who were in the burned-out car & I'm glad to say there were no fatalities or permanent disability. Bad injuries though.
I dont know whether the injuries could have been slighter if Porlock had been able to raise a crew, but the stark truth is that the Porlock area is now very vulnerable and hope the Fire services campaign for more volunteers is having a positive result.
