Fire at flat on Marley Close, Minehead

Shortly after 7am this morning (Thursday, 14th) smoke was reported to be coming from a first floor flat on Marley Close in Minehead.
Two fire engines from Minehead, one from Williton and a command support unit from Wiveliscombe were mobilised to this reported fire, with possible persons inside. Fortunately the flat was empty at the time, and the residents have since all been accounted for - safe & sound.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been an electrical fault with TV/VCR.
The damage is as follows:-
- 75% to TV destroyed by fire,
- smoke damage to room of origin was severe.
- 75% of remaining floor of origin was severe,
- 25% by heat to floor of origin,
- 5% burnt timber in roof space.
There were no smoke detectors fitted within the property.
