Flood Warnings update: Flood alert remains in force as another night of rainfall expected

Following persistent and at times heavy rainfall within the West Somerset area overnight the Environment Agency expect the rain to pass out of the area in the next few hours.

Having peaked yesterday, river levels in the area fell overnight. However, as a result of the heavy overnight rain the rivers are now rising again and it is anticipated that a flood alert will remain in force today.

A relatively dry afternoon is expected but further persistent and at times heavy rain is forecasted for tonight into early Tuesday morning.

At 8.45am this morning:- river levels on the Hawkcombe Stream at Porlock are stable. River levels on the Horner Water at West Luccombe, River Aller at Allerford, Washford River at Beggearn Huish, Monksilver Stream at Williton, Doniford Stream at Sampford Brett and Doniford are rising.
Areas on flood alert are:

  • Washford River from Kingsbridge to Watchet
  • Washford River at Washford and Watchet
  • Monksilver Stream from Combe Sydenham to Williton
  • Doniford Stream at Swill Bridge
  • Doniford Stream in the Sampford Mill Farm area
