West Somerset Council in partnership with the Minehead Town Council and Exmoor National Park, opened a new Visitor and Interpretation centre in Minehead earlier this month (July).
TV celebrity Johnny Kingdom used garden shears to cut the ribbon when he declared the centre officially open.
Johnny told the crowd that he has spent many happy holidays in Minehead: watch his short speech ...

To the delight of his many fans, Johnny took time to chat to everyone and signed books and DVDs.
District and town councillors and representatives from tourism organisations from across the district were also in the crowd.
Johnny also had a chance to meet old friends, including local photographer, Steve Guscott, who has worked with Johnny in the past.

The New Centre
West Somerset Council secured over £200,000 of European Regional Development Funding for the state-of-the-art VIIC which features high-technology interactive touch-screen displays.
It will provide a centre of excellence to develop potential and existing customer markets to support the tourism industry in West Somerset, which includes Exmoor.
In a popular move, the building is situated on the sea front and replaces the old Tourist Information Centre in Friday Street, which is now closed for business.
