Children's Summer Cycle Safety Classes

The West Somerset Sports and Leisure Centre in Minehead is running a two-day course to teach local children how to cycle safely this summer.
Leisure Centre Manager Jayne Lethaby, said, "The course, which we're running in partnership with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA), includes tutored cycle rides on our roads to teach children road safety as well as teaching the basics to make sure their bikes are roadworthy.
"Cycling is great exercise for children but we also need to teach them how to stay safe and understand traffic. The course will be run by ROSPA qualified teaching staff and children completing it will receive a ROSPA Cycle Safety Certificate."
Children must be over nine years of age to go on the course, which will take place on August 14 and 15 and costs £26.
Jayne added, "Children will need to bring a packed lunch, bicycle, safety helmet and sun screen on both days. Places are strictly limited so we'd urge people to book as soon as possible."
Telephone West Somerset Sports & Leisure Centre on 01643 708815 or call into the Centre to book your child's place on the course.
