A film made by top British director Terence Davies to celebrate the centenary of the birth of playwright Terence Rattigan The Deep Blue Sea will be screened by Dulverton Films in the Town Hall on Friday May 11 at 7.30pm.
Based on Rattigan's classic play, written in 1952, the film tells the story of the wife of a high court judge who is caught up in a self-destructive love affair with an RAF pilot.
An outstanding cast includes Rachel Weisz as Hester Collyer who walks away from her comfortable but stifling marriage to Sir William (Simon Russell Beale ), a judge many years her elder, and into the arms of the dashing but vapid Freddie (Tom Hiddleston), a former RAF pilot still clinging to his glory days of flying missions against the Nazis.
Tickets cost £2 for Dulverton Films members and £4 for their guests and are available at Dulverton Post Office (telephone 01398 323474), or email janaross2003@yahoo.co.uk .
Light refreshments will be available from 7pm.
