Rural Watch rolled out in Dunster area

The Exmoor Neighbourhood Policing Team is rolling out Rural Watch scheme to properties in the Dunster beat areas over the coming weeks.
The Rural Watch scheme aims to give farm owners and residents of rural locations practical advice on how to improve security. Property can be marked to make it more identifiable making it harder for a thief to dispose of and more likely that it can be returned to its rightful owner if the worse does happen.
For this purpose the police offer a marking service. They record your valuable items of equipment, property and/or livestock using digital photography. The information is recorded on an affiliated database and a copy given to you for your own records.
Stolen items can then be traced via the database to help the Police in identifying your property.
Letters providing further information about the scheme will be sent to properties identified as possibly being vulnerable over the coming weeks.
