Strengthening Local Food Connections

On 10th October members of Transition Minehead and Alcombe (TMA) attended the Growing Connections Local Food Conference organised by Somerset Community Foods. The aim was to strengthen the local food network and share tools and skills by setting up a knowledge bank - see: www.somersetcommunityfood.org.uk.
A strong theme from the conference was food sovereignty, which is defined as the "right of peoples to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems".
This will become more important as our economic situation worsens, so the Transition movement is working to enable us all to grow local, healthy food in our communities.

Please also let us know if you would be interested in a permaculture course.
