Holway Clean Up Day by young volunteers

Taunton East Safer Stronger Neighbourhood Team (SSN) organised a clean up day to help residents in the Holway area on Friday August 1 2008.
The SSN team and eight young volunteers took part on the day, providing a skip at Milton Way for the local community to use - which was filled to the brim by 2pm.
Taunton Deane Borough Council also helped out, providing a van to pick up larger unwanted items directly from houses in the area.
The eight young volunteers form part of a police-led activity group where they are rewarded with day trips after they take part in various community projects. Their help with the Holway Clean Up last week will earn them a trip to Alton Towers later this month.
PCSO Jamie Munro said: "The Clean Up day was a great success that benefited the entire community. Rubbish was cleared from public areas and residents were given the chance to use the skip to throw out items too large for their domestic bins. And the clean up was brought right to people's doors, as items too large to carry were collected directly from peoples homes."
