Taunton Town Centre Beat Manager, PC Nick Wood said: "We are doing everything we can to reduce incidents of car crime and have utilised many resources such as 'covert capture' cars that video offenders and make it easier for them to be identified.
"We ask that motorists remain vigilant and do everything they can to reduce opportunities for theft by ensuring that your belongings are not left on display. If you do need to leave items in the car, remember to put them in the boot and out of sight. If you have a stereo that has a 'face off' mechanism please ensure that you remove it every time you leave the car.
"If you see anyone suspicious hanging around car parks, please do let us know by calling 0845 456 7000. We are much more likely to catch these opportunists quickly with the help of the public."
