Deputy Lieutenants of Somerset

Lord Lieutenant Lady Gass of Somerset signed up two new Deputy Lieutenants
The Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Lady Gass, has signed Commissions for two new Deputy Lieutenants, Brigadier Tom Lang who lives near Axbridge, and Mr. David Medlock who lives near Bath.
Brigadier Tom Lang has spent much of his life in Somerset and is a professional Chartered Surveyor
After seven years in the Royal Marines, he transferred to the Royal Marines Reserve in 1971 and has held many significant posts in the south west and nationally.
Brigadier Lang's current voluntary activities include being Chairman of the Board of the Council of Reserve Forces and Cadets Associations (RFCA) and Chairman of the Wessex RFCA. He was previously a governor of Queen's College, Taunton for 23 years and Chairman of Taunton Chamber of Commerce.
Mr David Medlock was born in Bath and is Chairman of his family engineering design firm.
Mr. Medlock has served the community for over 30 years in a variety of positions, including serving as Chairman of the Bath Centre for Voluntary Service and is currently a governor of King Edward's School, managing trustee of the Medlock Charitable Trust and a founding trustee of the Bath Rugby Community Foundation.
He has been involved with Bath University for 20 years, having been appointed a Pro-Chancellor in 2001.
He was High Sheriff of Somerset for the year from 2007 to March 2008.
