Help For Heroes at Taunton Flower Show

Help for heroes enjoys strong support from Taunton & Wellington residents 

Taunton constituency MP Jeremy Browne has been supporting new charity Help for Heroes. He joined local coordinators Richard and Emma Lupton at their stand at Taunton Flower Show.

"Help for Heroes is a fantastic new charity supporting our wounded soldiers.

The public enthusiasm for Help for Heroes was very evident at Taunton Flower Show. There is a strong national desire to give our severely wounded servicemen and women the best possible rehabilitation and opportunities to rebuild their lives.

Advances in medical science mean some soldiers are surviving in combat now when they would have died from their injuries in previous conflicts. That is obviously very welcome progress but it does mean we have a great responsibility towards those men and women for the rest of their lives.

Help for Heroes raised almost £3,000 in donations at Taunton Flower Show and sold over £2,000 of merchandise. I am grateful to Richard and Emma Lupton for their commitment to this important cause.

I hope that Help for Heroes can supplement the long-standing work of the Royal British Legion and the two organisations can provide the best care for ex-soldiers in our history.

I was also very impressed by Taunton Flower Show this year. The rare outbreak of sunny weather certainly brought out the crowds and it was a spectacular event. At this rate it will not be long before Chelsea Flower Show comes to be known as the Taunton of the East!"
