PEOPLE who love afternoon tea are this month (June, 2017) invited by a farm shop in Somerset to book a place for its Afternoon Anniversary Chari-Tea.
Rumwell Farm Shop is hosting the event on Tuesday, June 20 from 3pm until 5pm to celebrate its 20th anniversary and to raise money for its two charities of the year.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, said: "We would like to invite people from the area to our very special Afternoon Anniversary Chari-Tea. This is to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary and to also raise money for St. Margaret's Hospice and Escape Support Group.
"The afternoon tea will take place in our cafe and will cost £9.95. One pound from each ticket sale will go to St. Margaret's Hospice and Escape. The cafe will be decorated with table cloths, flowers and cake stands to really give the English afternoon tea feel.
"We will also be hosting a guess the weight of the cake competition for £1 a go with all the money raised being donated to the charities. The person who guesses the correct weight or the nearest guess to the weight will win the cake to take home. The cake will be made by our fabulous cake maker, Sharon Ware, who is also our Kitchen Manager.
"Booking for this event is essential, please call 01823 461 599 and select option four or email email@example.com."
St. Margaret's Hospice as a charity, has been at the heart of Somerset's community, for more than 37 years, delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness.
Last year St. Margaret's Hospice, which is based in Bishops Hull, cared for more than 3,200 people across Somerset. To provide this care they need to raise in excess of £7.5 million. Without the generous support of the community, thousands of people facing the challenge of a life-limiting illness would struggle to receive the care and support they need.
Escape Support Group, which is based in Taunton, has been supporting families who have a child, or children, with disabilities or specific individual needs in the Somerset area for 17 years.
Escape's main aim is to provide fun activities, allowing children the opportunity to experience a positive childhood where they are integrated fully, and are able to share experiences that will enhance and enrich their lives, which other children and families may take for granted.
Escape offers support to families who have a child, or children, with any form of additional need or disability, no matter how mild or severe. A diagnosis is not required to become a member.
Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free range eggs at the gate.
Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne's sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business.
Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional butchery counter selling free range pork and Aberdeen Angus beef reared just four miles away on the family farm. There is also a delicatessen, bakery, jam kitchen and food hall.
Home grown potatoes are also still available, when in season, as well as everything from fruit, vegetables and groceries to plants, flowers, gifts and cards.
The Rumwell Cafe, which opened in May 2015, can seat approximately 80 people. The food prepared in the cafe kitchen is sourced from the farm shop, the Mitchell family farm and regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the cafe and there is a menu especially for children. The cafe also serves afternoon teas, carvery on a Sunday and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
The Afternoon Anniversary Chari-Tea will take place at the Rumwell Cafe on Tuesday, June 20 from 3pm until 5pm. Booking is essential.
