PCSO takes Holway Youth Project to Alton Towers

The Taunton East Safer Stronger Neighbourhood Team (SSN) took members of the Holway Youth Project to Alton Towers last weekend (Saturday August 30).
PCSO Jamie Munro set up the Youth Project earlier this year, which has seen eight young people from the Holway area take part in community activities that benefit the area. They are then rewarded for their efforts with day trips like this visit to Alton Towers. Imprints in Taunton has even provided them with Youth Project polo shirts.
PCSO Jamie Munro said: "Everyone had a great time at Alton Towers and the youth club members were really appreciative.
"The trip was a reward for members after the fantastic job they did at the Clean Up day we held in Holway last month. They filled an entire skip with litter and unwanted items from the homes of local residents.
"Members of the community were really grateful for their hard work, which is really important. Young people can sometimes have an unfair reputation and this project shows that lots of children out there want to improve the area that they live.
"The Holway Youth Project provides local teenagers with a sense of fulfilment as well as lots of fun things to do that don't break the law. Over the next few months we are hoping to embark on a number of new projects, such as redecorating the YMCA dance hall and providing them with a graffiti wall there."
