Two incidents of worrying livestock in the Brompton Ralph area has resulted in a number of sheep being destroyed and injured and several dogs being shot.
The first incident happened last Thursday (30th October) afternoon when four dogs attacked sheep in fields on a farm at Brompton Ralph. This resulted in a Collie dog being shot dead and another being taken by the Dog Warden; two other dogs ran off.
The second incident happened last Saturday (1st November) on a different farm in the same area. This time three dogs attacked another flock of sheep. This resulted in twelve dead and a number of injured sheep, and two dogs; a collie and a mongrel were shot dead. The third dog ran off.
PC Clare Adams at Dulverton Police Station is again warning dog owners to keep control of their dogs around farm animals and that if they fail do so, this could result in prosecution, compensation to the farmer or with their dog(s) being shot.
