Who's who?

When I first started to work during my summer holidays, it was for a busy administration department for a national insurance company.

I was surrounded by a bunch of very lively girls and we all got on like a house on fire. The room was separated from other offices by a row of filing cabinets and I happend to look up just as an old guy teetered across the floor. All I could see was his rather crumpled face with mouth ajar and was remided of a tortoise!

Without a second thought, after he had gone, I uttered the immortal words 'Blimey, who let him out of his cage?'. No sooner had I completed the phrase when the girl opposite me looked up and said 'that's my dad!'

I wanted the world to swallow me up - it was made all the worse because I was the manager's son!!!!

I certainly learnt my first big lesson in office life - always get a feel for who's doing what to who and who's related to who!!!

Same could be said about community life: [If you are new to an area] when at the local pub, and everyone is treating you like you're 'one of them' DO NOT say anything negative about ANYBODY until you really know who is who & what is what.
