Joan Richardson, 91 from Wells died following a visit to the RUH, where she contracted clostridium difficile and her daughter, Frances Young wants to see better standards of hygiene put in place.

 

Businesses ‘be on your guard'

Police are warning businesses that there have been a spate of incidents of obtaining cash by deception as a team of crooks obtain the cash by distraction

 

Collections suspended

The next dates for refuse collection are Thursday December 27th - Sunday December 30th and Wednesday January 2nd - Saturday Jan 5th. Residents can put upto 2 extra bags for collection during these times

Pedro Simao aged 34 of St Thomas Street, Wells was ordered to do community service, but was too ill to complete the 150 hrs. In fact he only managed 31, so magistrates revoked that order an placed a curfew on him between 7pm and 7am

 

Extra police funding has now been taken back

Some of the additional funds promised over the next 3 years are being withdrawn from our area to be redistributed elsewhere in the country.

 

Treatment for stroke victims ‘is a lottery'

Presumably this is a quote from Alan Bartle, regional manager of the Stroke Association as he is the only person to be quoted in the article. Apparently stroke victims need to receive quicker scans in the first step to improving treatment.

 

Homeless are given hope

Councils in and around mid-Somerset are to be given an extra £400,000 to help tackle the issues of homeless people who are sleeping rough
