Anticipation high for Immingham Fair

Anticipation high for Immingham Fair

ORGANISERS are confident that this year's Immingham Fair will be bigger and better than ever before - with a series of extra surprises set to tip the number of visitors beyond the 10,000 mark.

The team at Immingham Resource Centre believe the fair - now in its 12th year - will be the best yet, with 18 stalls jostling alongside the traditional great face paint and the It's A Knockout Event on Sunday.

Opening times are from 6pm to 10pm on Thursday, July 3, and Friday, July 4, and from noon to 11pm on Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday.

The mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Colin Eastwell, will open the event in Margaret Street, Immingham, on Thursday and there will be a sea cadets honour guard to celebrate the launch.

There will be the traditional fireworks display on Saturday evening and the 'great Immingham face paint' during the day, together with a laser target shoot for the first time ever. Cafe facilities will also be available on Saturday.

Teams of eight people will contest the It's A Knockout event on Sunday.

Councillor Andrew De Freitas, leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: "Immingham Fair is a mainstay of our summer calendar and I am sure this year's event will be a big hit with the public.

"I would encourage as many people to attend the event as possible to enjoy a great family occasion."

Julie Ogley, executive director of Community Care at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: "Immingham Fair has been a long-running success story and we are delighted to be bringing it back once again.

"The re-appearance of traditional attractions such as face painting, stalls, the epic challenge of the obstacle course and of course, the firework display should provide a real treat for visitors."
