| Published: 13th May 2007 10:55 |
Diabetes is an incurable condition where the body's method for balancing blood sugar levels has broken down or is impared. With diet and medicines, a near normal life is possible, if the levels get seriously out of control - then blindness, amputation, kidney failure and heart failure can follow.
The Diabetes UK - Croydon Group is run largely by patients under the care of Mayday University Hospital. The Croydon Group:
- Holds meetings where diabetics and careres listen to experts, then discuss and shares experiences with others
- Organise fundraising events for research
At each meeting there is:
- A report on the latest diabetic developments
- A social session over refreshments where you can share experiences with others
- A trading stal for books on diabetes and similar items
Non-members are welcome to come along before deciding whether to join,
