Are you up for it?

Our members are mainly between the ages of 25 to 45. They come from all walks of life but have one common interest - outdoor pursuits.
We gather every Tuesday evening when there is a very varied and lively social programme. This might be a quiz, party for St Patrick's, barn dance or a Power Point show by one of our members returning from an exotic holiday. It's then that you can reserve a place for whatever is your adventure. Some of us meet next door first to loosen up with an hour of badminton. In the summer, there's the occasional evening out which might be tennis with a strawberries and cream picnic or a local walk finishing with a couple of drinks - it's all good fun!
We also arrange some midweek events such a play at the Warehouse theatre, evening walks, a drink in the local or something hotter like a vindaloo. Walking and cycling form the core of the outdoor programme, although club members often organise other exciting activities like caving, canoeing, climbing, skiing and windsurfing. These are frequently followed by a barbeque in the evening. We also attempt to put something back into the community by arranging conservation projects, a "wheelchair ramble" and of course - support for Red Nose Day!
Since we are also the local YHA Group for the Croydon area we usually stay in youth hostels for trips further a field. However, sometimes we go camping and use other accommodation that don't hurt the wallet too much. Travel costs are greatly reduced by sharing cars and the cost of petrol. Catering is also shared, the organiser of each trip providing all the necessary provisions for everyone. This works out less expensive and eliminates the chaos created by many people attempting to prepare individual meals.
We are a not-for-profit, self supporting club but rely upon the voluntary help and goodwill of our members. Our membership subscription is therefore only £24 for a year but we have reduced rates for students and for those who are on a means tested benefit. However, you are very welcome to come along and meet us all first without joining. As a member of the club you will be entitled to up to 20% discount during our special concession evenings at Millets, Croydon. We also have a quarterly club magazine that features the future programme.
