COME AND TRY FOR FREE

Residents are being invited to take part in a range of free exercise classes taking place in the borough from Monday 30 July to Saturday 4 August. Sports range from basketball to trampolining and are open to those of all ages. A special Play Day will take place on Wednesday 1 August emphasising children's right to play.
All sessions will take place at Monks Hill Sports Centre:
• Monday 30 July: AM - under-18s football (10-11am); PM - under 18s fitness circuits (3-4pm)
• Tuesday 31 July: AM - under 18s basketball (10-11am) ; PM - under 18s street dance (4-5pm) & adult street dance (5-6pm)
• Wednesday 1 August: Play Day (1-4pm)
• Thursday 2 August: AM - table tennis (11am-12noon); PM - under 18s trampolining (3-4pm)
• Friday 3 August: AM - yoga (10.30-11.30am); PM - 50+ exercise class (12-1pm)
• Saturday 4 August: AM - under 16s beginners badminton (10-11am) & intermediate badminton (11am-12noon); PM - Under 18s Boogie Bounce (12noon-1pm) & adult Boogie Bounce (1-2pm) (£1 charge for this activity).
Those wishing to take part just need to turn up 15 minutes before each session, with the exception of Boogie Bounce which must be booked ahead, to complete a health questionnaire. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Councillor Steve Hollands, cabinet member for culture and sport, said: "Exercise should be fun, not a chore but nobody wants to risk signing up for a programme of fitness classes only to find after one or two sessions that it's not really for them, that is why these taster sessions are such a good idea."
