| Published: 28th February 2008 21:49 |
International Women's Day has been an annual event since 1911 and is all about celebrating the achievements of women in years gone by and focussing on the positive results that have been achieved in various areas of equality.

In some countries, International Women's Day is an official holiday, and a day when men give gifts to their female relatives, friends and colleagues.
International Women's Day is supported by many organisations, including UNESCO and the World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides and a series of events will be happening across the globe.
