COME ALONG TO THE ENERGY SAVING ROADSHOWS

The roadshows, hosted by the council's home-energy advisors, will show visitors easy ways to reduce electricity and gas bills, save energy and achieve a smaller carbon footprint.

Running from 12 noon to 2 pm, the roadshows will call at Tesco in Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath on Thursday 6 March, The Co-op, Central Parade, New Addington on Thursday 13 March and at the Housing Conference, Fairfield Halls in central Croydon on Tuesday 18 March.

Six winning designs from the council's winter energy-saving poster competition with Croydon schools will be on display at each roadshow. As an added incentive, visitors who pledge to save energy at home will receive a free energy-saving light bulb, subject to availability.

Councillor Chris Wright, cabinet member for planning said: "We keep hearing about the hike in domestic energy bills so why not take this opportunity to find out how you could make your home greener and cut your household budget at the same time?"

The council is also working with British Gas to provide a loft-insulation and cavity-wall service, with the offer of a £100 saving on council tax bills.
