Celebs stir up a treat in ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ style event for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal

In April, a host of local celebrities will stir up a treat at Panoramic restaurant in Liverpool in order to raise money for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. The idea, devised by the charity's fundraising executive Rachel Donohoe, will see celebrities such as actors Louis Emerick, Helen Noble and Suzanne Collins, model Amanda Harrington, pop-star Natasha Hamilton, DJs Steve Parry, Baz Todd and Rick Vaughn divide into two teams and take to the kitchen to prepare a three-course meal anonymously during dinner service. Diners, whose ticket purchase goes straight to the charity, will then vote for the best menu. Rachel says:
"We thought up the idea as it's a fun way to raise money for this great cause. It's fantastic to see these celebrities take time out of their busy schedules to give something back to the community. We care for around 250, 000 children a year so the money Imagine raises goes straight into helping improve the quality of life for children in hospital. All the proceeds from this event will benefit patients on our cancer unit which we know everyone involved is really passionate about."
The event ‘Under Starters Orders' will launch the Imagine Appeals city-wide campaign over the Grand National week where hotels and restaurants in Liverpool will fundraise for the world famous children's hospital. The Panoramic raised the highest amount last year. However, it is not all fun and games as the celebrity teams are responsible for preparing food to Head Chef Chris Marshall's very particular requirements. He jokes:
"Just because diners have bought their ticket for charity doesn't mean the food we serve them is going to slip below the normal standards Panoramic sets. I won't be doing a Gordon Ramsay and throwing plates of food on the floor but there may be a few serious words if the cooking isn't up to scratch."
Liverpool model Amanda Harrington, who will be co-hosting the event adds: "We are all very excited to be taking part in this charity cook-off and hope that people are very generous on the night. There will be a raffle, and an auction where diners have the opportunity to bid for prizes such as a table for four at Marco Pierre-White and Frankie Dettori's restaurant in Knightsbridge. Everyone must come along with their wallets jam-packed full!"
The celebrity cooking challenge ‘Under Starters Orders' will take place on Wednesday 7th April at 7.00pm at Panoramic restaurant in Liverpool. Tickets are priced at £75 each. To purchase single tickets or a table for up to 6 people please contact the restaurant on 0151 236 5534.
