(CCW) Complaints received by Yorkshire Water Watchdog increase)
Figures published today by CCWater Yorkshire show complaints about Yorkshire Water have increased. Between the period of 1 April 2006 and 31 Mach 2007 complaints to the watchdog about Yorkshire Water increased from 545 to 630, a rise of 16% for the equivalent 12 months in 2005-06.
Andrea Cook, Chairman of CCWater Yorkshire said: "We have received a larger number of complaints from consumers about the increases in their water and sewerage bills and service failures.
"CCWater Yorkshire has received a number of complaints relating to long term sewerage problems. In these instances we have been assured that Yorkshire Water is dealing with these matters appropriately in line with the company's prioritisation scheme.
"Customers have also told us that they want to know more about how their money is being invested in service improvements. However, overall complaints represent 0.02% of the total customer base."
CCWater has been working with Yorkshire Water to ensure that it produces clear and accurate bills to Yorkshire consumers. The introduction of Yorkshire Water's new billing system has also shown that consumer's billing queries are handled more promptly and efficiently which has led to a reduction in the number of billing complaints the company has received.
