B.A.T. Burncross Action Team
Burncross Action Team celebrated another successful year of caring for the area, last Monday evening at the Acorn Inn.
They were joined by Arthur Dunworth, the Lord Mayor and Kathleen Chadwick, Lady Mayoress who commented on the good work done by the group in keeping Burncross an area to be proud of so much so they earned a Silver Award for Burncross and Sheffield in the Yorkshire In Bloom competition.
The Lord Mayor also commented on the fact that the award not only takes account of the flowers & plants but the community spirit generated by working together to achieve the same goal and that the team had done brilliantly.
Councillor Jonathan Jones, chairperson of Burncross Action Team commented that "tonight was both a thank you and celebration of all the good work carried out on the various projects around Burncross by all the members of the community"
Young, 11 year old Poppy Wright was also praised and commended for the excellent logo she designed for Burncross Action Team, which will appear on letterheads, T-Shirts and stationery etc.
An excellent display board showed images of the various projects carried out around the area including, litter picks, bulb planting, gardening, assisting Chapeltown Community Centre with clearing up & shifting graffiti. Not forgetting the beautiful planters at the top and bottom junctions of Bracken Hill.
