Steve Ascough has been an enthusiast in all aspects of motoring and motorsport since childhood. His passion for classic cars led him to start drawing his favourite cars for family and friends from an early age. Out of this grew his highlights' style that portrays the essence of the subject in a totally unique manner. Using acrylics over a usually black background gives the impression of the car sitting under a spotlight'.
After studying art Steve has spent most of his working life in the motor trade where he developed a special interest in classic cars, and became more recently involved in their restoration.
Steve feels a special affinity for the sports cars and racing cars of the 1950s - especially the Jaguars and Aston Martins that raced at Le Mans, and which are associated strongly with the racing drivers of the time - heroes such as Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn and Fangio.
Steve now spends much of his time working on affordable bespoke commissions for enthusiasts, owners and motor clubs, examples of which can be seen in the gallery. He also sells from an ever-increasing portfolio of limited edition prints.
Steve is currently working on a theme of 'Jaguar & Driver'. The originals of which are now owned by the drivers themselves and a limited edition of prints are now available signed by both the driver and artist.
