The Civil Parish of Bradfield is a collection of villages, hamlets and settlements covering an area of 53 square miles, situated to the north west of the City of Sheffield, set amidst beautiful hills and valleys.

Bradfield Parish Council is extremely active and works hard to improve the quality of life for all residents. It also works in partnership with organisations and community groups to secure grants for numerous projects, including the Parish Transport Grant and Objective 1 Funding.

It is one of the largest Parish Councils in England (in area) and has a population of approximately 12,000 adults. The population is concentrated mainly in the villages of Oughtibridge, Stannington, Loxley, Worrall, Wharncliffe Side, High and Low Bradfield, Dungworth and Midhopestones, with smaller hamlets of Brightholmlee, Holdworth, Hollow Meadows, Storrs, Ughill and Upper Midhope.

Part of the Parish is within the Peak Park and it shares boundaries with both Derbyshire and Barnsley.

Within the Parish, there are 7 schools (one Secondary and 6 Primaries), 2 Health Centres, 5 Post Offices, 16 shops, 13 Village and Church halls, 12 Churches and 23 Public Houses.

There are many groups and organisations in the villages.

These include: Silver and Brass Bands, several choirs, Scout, Guide and Brownie groups, voluntary run Youth Groups, Historical Societies, Playgroups, Women’s Institute, Drama Groups, Produce Associations, Environmental Groups, Ladies Guilds, NFU and Wine Guilds as well as Church Groups, School Associations and the Village Hall Management committees. Sports and Recreation facilities include, Football, Cricket, Bowling, Tennis, Fishing, Riding, Golf, Running and Sailing, with opportunities for walking, climbing and bird watching

The Parish Council is administered from an old Wesleyan Chapel dating from 1817, a Listed Building, at Low Bradfield. The Council looks after 4 parks, a Cemetery and the 200 miles of public footpaths and bridleways in the area.

The Council meets monthly, with committee meetings weekly throughout the month and has 13 councillors.
