Acorn Amblers Present Cheque To Charities
A celebration of a terrific team effort occured Monday 29th of October at the Acorn Inn, Burncross when the money collected from sponsers of the "Acorn Amble" was presented to two deserving charities.
The Acorn Amble is an annual event, (in June this year), where ordinary people show what can be achieved with a lot of determination and grit by walking the 28 miles from Castlton to the Acorn Inn.
The participants range in age from children to "pensioners" and are well supported by team of like-minded volunteers, altogether showing that a great community spirit exists amongst the Burncross residents.
The charities this year were the Hallamshire Neurocare unit and the Special Babycare unit and the amount of money to be split equaly between them was:
£9,216.34p
The total raised over the twelve years the event has taken place is a staggering:
£56,909.53p
