Burncross Action Team Do It Again!

Highly Commended!

Following on from their fantastic achievement of winning a Silver Award for the Yorkshire In Bloom competition in late summer this year, BAT have now scooped a further award for their efforts.

BAT Highly commended

At the Sheffield First Environmental Community Awards 2007 at Sheffield Town Hall the team representatives were presented with a Highly Commended award, in recognition of their work in the Burncross community.

BAT Environmental Award

This is the fourth year in which these awards have been given in recognition of projects by enthusiastic voluntary groups who have made significant improvements locally to their environment on behalf of their own communities.
The panel of judges are all representatives of the Sheffield First for Environment Board, who spent several weeks considering the applications and making site visits, before choosing the joint winners.

There was a wide range of submissions by groups from across the city and Professor Ted Kitchen, Chairman of the Environment Board, said the standard of entries was particularly high, making choosing a winner extremely difficult.
The team representative were presented the prize by The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Arthur Dunworth and The Lady Mayoress Kathleen Chadwick who sang the praises of all concerned for the hard work carried out for the community.

The other nominees for the awards were Page Hall Community Association and Friends of Wooley Wood Park who were joint winners.

Also Norton Free Primary School and Friends of Eccleshall Wood who were both also Highly Commended
