Sheaf Valley Walk

Running from Granville Square in the City Centre to Millhouses Park three miles upstream, we are embarking on a project to improve access to the River Sheaf and raise its profile.

Our project aims to establish a Sheaf Valley Walk by using existing short stretches of river walk where they are accessible and using alternative existing routes away from the river elsewhere. At the city centre end we will carry out small scale physical improvements to open spaces and along the whole route we will be providing signage, interpretation and seating at key points. An artist will be appointed to design a unique style of street furniture.

Along the way, the walk will take in as many local places of interest as possible, especially the many sites which date back to Sheffield’s early industrial period.
The project is funded by planning obligation (Section 106) funds and will cost approximately £200,000.
We are working closely with Heeley Development Trust and Groundwork Sheffield on this project, both of whom hope to be able to extend the scope of the project by adding further funds.
