A persistent burglar who broke into pubs and private homes around Lichfield, has been jailed for six years.
Robert Lee Smith, aged 44, of Schoolfield Road, Shenstone, was jailed by a judge at Stafford Crown Court.
Smith, who is also known as Mark John Ellis, broke into two pubs and 13 homes in Lichfield, Shenstone and Stonall in the weeks after being released from prison where he served a sentence for burglaries on the south coast of England.
Trent Valley Detective Constable Robin Place described Smith as a persistent offender who had targeted pubs and homes within days of being released from prison.
"It was particularly satisfying to see the judge hand down a sentence that fitted the serious nature of the crimes committed," said DC Place.
The court heard Smith had broken into the Railway Inn at Shenstone and the Bulls Head, Birmingham Road, to steal cash.
He admitted breaking into the pubs and two charges of breaking into homes in Trent Valley Road, Lichfield and Church Road, Shenstone and asked for 11 other burglaries in the Lichfield area to be taken into consideration.
