EARLY MORNING CAR THIEVES WARNING FROM POLICE

CAR thieves are getting up early to target drivers trying to thaw out their vehicles on frosty mornings, police have warned.
The latest cold snap has seen three cars stolen from driveways and outside a shop as owners left them parked with the engines running to de-frost windows.
Now, police are warning drivers to be vigilant and never leave vehicles unattended.
The latest theft happened at around 5.20am today (Wednesday 20 Feb) when a Porche Carrera was stolen from outside the Spar shop in Ashbourne Road, Uttoxeter.
A white man wearing a baseball cap and trainers jumped into the blue sports car and sped away while the owner was in the store.
Yesterday (Tues) a blue Audi A4 estate was stolen from outside a house in Thomas Street, Tamworth.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, a VW Bora car was stolen from the driveway of a house in Ascot Drive, Dosthill, Tamworth. Two young men, both white, were seen in the area when the vehicle was stolen shortly after 6am.
"Thieves are always on the look-out for easy opportunities and just because it's seven in the morning, doesn't mean they won't strike," warned Inspector Ian Coxhead, Commander of Tamworth Neighbourhood Policing Unit.
"Even though people may think their cars are safe on their own drives and it will be OK to leave the engine running while the windows clear, these latest incidents show thieves also get up early to see what they can steal."
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact police on 08453 30 20 10 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
