Dramatic Food Safety

The world premiere of ‘Alfie & Molly's Picnic Adventure' took place at St Peter & St Paul's Catholic Primary School on Thursday 17th January. Over 100 primary school pupils watched the play to learn about healthy eating in a fun way.
Friary's drama pupils took up the challenge of acting out a play to show how important it is to think about food hygiene, to make sure the food you do eat is good for you, and the importance of keeping fit and active. The play follows the adventures of Alfie and Mollie as they battle against Chocolate Bob, who tries to tempt the duo into bad eating habits.
The Lichfield Garrick created the script, with expert advice from our Environmental Health team, who worked with the teens to make sure the hygienic and healthy message is spot on.
Councillor Val Richards, Cabinet Member for Community, Housing and Health, said: "Eating healthy food and knowing how to prepare food so you don't give someone food poisoning is really important. The children's reaction to the first play was brilliant, and I am sure they know much more about food safety."
Theresa Craig, Head of Drama at Friary School, added: "Taking part in this project is a great way for my students to gain valuable experience in front of an audience. We're looking forward to taking the healthy eating message to other primary schools across the district in the coming months."
