Beacon Park Graffiti Tackled

Lichfield District Council's bid to remove graffiti from key areas across the district continued last week when graffiti was removed from a building at a favourite city centre park.
Beacon Park's Scout Hut, next to the children's playground, was given an intensive clean to remove graffiti from its walls this January.
It took the District Council's Operational Services two days to carry out the work, which cost £700, and included a chemical treatment, scrubbing and power washing the spray painted illegal designs off the walls. The graffiti free building now looks great - giving a much better impression of the beautiful park.
The Beacon Park graffiti hot spot was tackled as part of an extensive graffiti removal campaign the Council is running. Other graffiti eyesores soon to be tackled include: Saddlers Wood Park, The Parchments (next to Stowe Pool) and Bridge Cross Road in Burntwood.
Councillor Louise Flowith, Cabinet Member for Operational Services, said: "The view across Beacon Park is so much better now the graffiti has been cleaned off the Scout Hut. It is thanks to Community Pride funding that we were able to tackle this building, and I would encourage everyone to have pride in their community and not to graffiti as it gives a bad impression of an otherwise safe and beautiful district."
Help us to tackle graffiti. If anyone sees a person spray painting illegally, please call the Police on 08453 302010 immediately.
