HOSPICE SHOPS RAISE HALF A MILLION FOR ST GILES

St Giles Hospice Shops have once again raised more than half a million pounds to support the charity's vital work in the local community.
In the last financial year which ended in March, the network of 14 hospice shops, the St Giles ebay site and two warehouses have proved hugely popular with the public, generating a total income of £525,000 for the charity.
This marks an increase of £15,000 on last year, with all the extra money raised being used to fund the high-quality care for local people with cancer and other serious illnesses.
Lynwen Truesdale, St Giles Hospice Shops General Manager, said: "We want to say a huge thank you to everyone - donors, customers, volunteers and staff - for all their support in helping us to raise such a fabulous total.
"Some of our shops have undergone refurbishments and this has revitalised interest, both in terms of drawing shoppers through the doors and in encouraging people to donate high-quality clothing and household items which we can sell.
"While it's a tremendous achievement, St Giles still can't care for everyone who needs its help. The hospice needs the continued support of the local community as much as ever. "
The group comprises 12 high street shops, two specialist bookshops, two warehouses, a small shop at the hospice and an internet trading site on ebay, accessed by visiting www.stgileshospice.com/shops.
Items can be donated at any of the hospice shops across the region, the details of which are as follows:

The fourteen shops are located in major towns throughout the hospice's patient catchment area, which ranges from Ashby de la Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west - and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.
St Giles Hospice is one of the best-known and most respected charities in the region, offering high-quality nursing and medical care for people with cancer and other serious illness, as well as providing support for their families and carers.
Care is offered at the hospice's facilities in Sutton Coldfield and Whittington between Lichfield and Tamworth, or in patients' own homes across the region.
St Giles spends over £5million every year providing its specialist services. With just a third of this funded by the Government, the registered charity relies heavily on donations and fundraising.
