Yes Peas! and Tommy's, the baby charity, have teamed up for a unique collaboration
‘Happea' Faces - to be launched on 13 September 2007
50 Celebrity Yummy Mummys will celebrate the pea by drawing a ‘Happea' face onto a specially-designed round green disc, to be mounted and framed. Then the Happea Face will be displayed at an exhibition at Divertimenti, Knightsbridge, London and auctioned in aid of Tommy's in February 2008.
And why celebrate the pea? Because it's a great natural source of folic acid, which as many will know is vital for Mums-to-Be...
So, Mums-to-be, Bump up your Folic Acid - with Peas!
Jane Brewin, Chief Executive of Tommy's, the baby charity, comments,
"Peas are a fantastic source of folic acid, which is vital for women during pregnancy, as it aids the development of a baby's red blood cells and also significantly reduces the likelihood of being born with spina bifida and other defects of the neural tube.
"Often many women are unsure of how to increase their intake of folic acid during pregnancy, so it is great news that the Yes Peas! campaign provides so much information on simple and effective ways to incorporate it into their diet.
"Their support of Tommy's ties in perfectly with our Pregnancy Health Month in September, which provides pregnant women with all the information they need to maximise their chances of a healthy pregnancy, so we are absolutely thrilled to have Yes Peas! on board and are very grateful for all their support."
Yes Peas! is the award-winning national campaign for the frozen pea industry, backed by growers and freezers, (see www.peas.org for more information and delicious recipes with peas).
"We are delighted to be supporting Tommy's in this way," confirms Tim Mudge who coordinates the Yes Peas! campaign. "It is a first-class cause, and we are proud to be associated with it."
There will also be a children's version on www.peas.org, where they will be able to download the pea disc, draw a Happea Face, and send it to be judged with £1 for Tommy's. The winner will receive a family ticket for World of Chessington.
