Network Rail is demolishing and rebuilding the west side of the A38 bridge over the West Coast Main Line near Lichfield so that it will span four tracks.
In order to complete this work, road closures and lane closures on the A38 are necessary.
On Saturday 16 June and Sunday 17th June, lane 1 of the southbound carriageway will be closed from 0700 to 1900hrs (7am to 7pm).
Overnight on Saturday 23rd June, from 20.00hrs (8pm) both lanes of the southbound carriageway will be closed until 02.00 (2am) on Sunday 24th June.
Lane 2 Southbound will then be closed from 02.00 - 06.00 (2am-6am).
During the overnight closure on Saturday 23rd June, a diversion route for Southbound traffic will be clearly signed via the A5192 and the A5127. Speed enforcement will be carried out in the 30 mph zones on the diversion route.
Lane 2 Northbound will be closed from 20.00hrs (8pm) on Saturday 23rd June until 02.00 (2am) on Sunday 24th June, then from 02.00-06.00 hrs (2am-6am) both Northbound lanes will be closed with a clearly marked diversion in place.
From 0600hrs on Sunday 24 June until October 2007 the east side of the bridge will carry four narrow lanes of traffic (2 southbound, 2 northbound) while the new west side of the bridge is built. This phase of traffic management will be in place until October 2007.
For the safety of all road users and workers a temporary 40mph speed limit will be in force on the A38 with static and mobile speed cameras supported by the Staffordshire Safety Camera Partnership.
