A new book about Lichfield and the City's Fairtrade movement goes on sale in early June. Look out for it in Redshaw's bookshop in Dam Street and in the Cathedral Bookshop in the Close. It is by local author, Warren Bardsley, who will be signing
Author, Warren Bardsley copies of his book after the special Fairtrade City service to be held at 6.00 pm at the Cathedral on Sunday 8 June. Michael Hawkes, Chair of Fairtrade Lichfield's Campaign Group, says "Warren's book has arisen out of the conviction that Lichfield's campaign to become a Fairtrade City is a story worth telling. It is a great read with inspiring stories of many local people in their journey of commitment to Fairtrade. It has been commended by George Alagiah, who in March declared Lichfield to be a Fairtrade City. It will make a wonderful birthday or Christmas present to give to friends!"
The speaker at the 8th of June Fairtrade City Service in the Cathedral is Paul Chandler, Chief Executive of Traidcraft - the organisation that founded the Fairtrade movement in the UK over 30 years ago. It will be a great act of celebration with music, drama and dance. We shall be celebrating how Fairtrade benefits millions of people living in poor countries and how we in Lichfield are part of this movement.
