Please help us to keep costs down

This week Lichfield District Council is sending out an urgent plea to residents to remind them they must return their register of electors forms.
Every household in the district will have already received a form through the post and every Lichfield District resident, born before 30th November 1990, must register their details. Lichfield District Council is very concerned that 32% of all households in the district have not returned their forms yet, and unless they do soon, the Council will have to employ canvassers to visit the houses that have not returned their forms.
Councillor Margaret Stanhope, Cabinet Member for Democratic and Legal Services, said: "Most people don't realise it's a legal requirement to register their details, and that they could be fined up to £1,000 if they fail to do so. We need you to confirm your details even if they haven't changed, or if you have no intention of voting. If you have not registered your household's details, please do as soon as possible. Employing canvassers is an unnecessary cost for the Council and Council Tax payers."
If you have misplaced or not yet received a form, please contact Electoral Services straight away on 01543 308125.
