POLICE PLAN DNA CHECKS FOLLOWING WOUNDING

POLICE at Tamworth are contacting around 20 people to request DNA samples following an attack in which a 22-year old man received a knife wound.
Letters are being sent out this week as part of a continuing investigation into the incident which happened in Silver Street, Tamworth in March.
Detectives have now recovered a weapon and want to take DNA samples in order to eliminate suspects.
The victim received a wound to his back after two groups clashed at around 8.30pm in Silver Street, near the Three Tuns pub, on the night of England's European cup match against Israel on Saturday, 24 march.
Detective Constable David Morris said the victim spent several days in hospital but was now making a good recovery.

* Three men, all in their late teens, were arrested in connection with the incident are currently on police bail.
