The sort of services your local Age Concern might offer includes the following:
Information and advice
All Age Concerns offer at least a signposting service, and some will offer advice on benefits or subjects like elder abuse.
Activities outside the home
Such as day care, lunch clubs, outings, learning and leisure opportunities, including computer training.
Practical support at home
Including handyperson and gardening services, hospital aftercare services, home helps.
Emotional/social support at home
Some Age Concerns provide befriending and visiting services, others advocacy and counselling services.
Health-related services
Such as falls prevention, healthy eating, exercise classes.
Personal care, such as foot care or mobility aids.
To find out what is available in your area, contact your local Age Concern.
If they can't help you directly, they should suggest someone who can.
