1642. England is plunged into Civil War. The country is divided by those that support Parliamentarians and those that support the King. Lichfield found itself embroiled in the middle of this war and on the third and final siege, the central spire of the Cathedral collapsed after tireless bombardment.

A stained glass window was fiited as tribute to the re-building of the Cathedral and was placed in the Lady Chapel in 1803.
